Luleå University of Technology used PAMS to map a test site for the EU-project Impactmin . The high resolution orthophoto mosaic was used for detailed mapping of water vegetation in the area. The application is very time sensitive and requires the mapping to take place at a certain stage of vegetation development. Another requirement was that the results had to be available for field work in relatively short time before significant changes in the vegetation took place. The high resolution and geometric accuracy achieved (less than 5 cm) enables change detection down to the individual plant level.
The area was covered in 4 overlapping flights. Since the study area was situated within a few kilometres from Kiruna Airport each flight was cleared by the air traffic controller.
High resolution photo mosaics were produced on-site with the PAMS AerialMapper software to verify data quality and preliminary analysis. Precision orthophoto mosaics were produced by Germatics PAMS processing centre.
